welcome to camp!

I may not be a camp counselor anymore, but at least I get to play one in a park near you! I’m so excited to be touring The Grown-Ups with Dacha Theatre this summer!

I’ve loved this script since it came up during season selection time for Dacha. Originally devised by Nightdrive, a company in New York that’s quite similar to Dacha in many ways, the script unapologetically tackles strong and intense political themes with an unassuming and comedic tone. The Grown-Ups is also all about forging connections through the power of language and the distinctly drawn people contained within the story, which allows it to remain warm and approachable throughout. The result is an ongoing invitation for each person around the campfire to examine our own place in society and the political machines that drive our daily experiences. It’s funny, it’s challenging, and it’s entirely focused on figuring out how to become and remain actively engaged in our communities as a way of maintaining our humanity in a world that seems to grow a little more inhumane every day.

You can grab tickets on the Dacha website or check out the official blurb below!

Welcome to Camp Indigo Woods! (The alumni aren’t thrilled about the name change, but it’s really way more ~ inclusive ~ this way!) The campers are all finally asleep, and the lake is getting quiet. Crack a cold one, make a s'more, tell a scary story. Figure out what you're going to have to do in the morning to keep camp fun and safe without letting the kids find out about... well, you've seen the news.
Following a group of camp counselors trying to mold the leaders of tomorrow when tomorrow is looking bleaker and bleaker, The Grown-Ups explores the traditions that change us, what it takes for us to change them, and how to change yourself when you're hopelessly, tragically not prepared for this.
Touring parks and secret pop-up locations in the Puget Sound area, choose between real-fire and theatrical-fire options and bring a blanket or camp chair.
